A large number of our congregation is involved in over twenty ministries and organizations which we operate for the enrichment of all those with whom we come in contact and those beyond.  We invite you to join us and participate in any way you feel you can.  We have many people who want to meet you and will welcome you to their ministry or organization.  Please take time to read through the explanation of our ministries.  If your are interested and want more information, contact people are listed at the end our ministries list.  Call our parish office (860-445-1446) and ask the secretary to pass your interest on to the contact person.

Altar Servers

This ministry provides a wonderful way for our young men and women to become involved in our liturgies and in the parish.  Anyone who has received first Holy Communion may be trained to serve.

Arts and Environment

The ministry offers the opportunity for those with a discerning and artistic eye for detail to develop and maintain a prayerful and welcoming environment in our church.  It involves assuring that the sanctuary is tastefully decorated for liturgies, that plants are properly watered and that other embellishments, such as banners and seasonal decorations are appropriately displayed.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are an integral part of the liturgy, as they give witness to the presence of Christ.  The ministry of the Body and Blood of Christ is a rewarding and fulfilling one.  Any member over the age of eighteen who sincerely tries to live and reflect the Gospel message is eligible for this ministry.  Our diocese periodically conducts workshops to train Extraordinary Ministers.

Greeters

Our greeters provide an atmosphere of welcoming by greeting people as they enter church.  By simply taking a few minutes before Mass once a month or so they exemplify our spirit of community, making all feel at home.  This ministry can always use more friendly faces.

Liturgy and Spiritual Life Committee

This committee helps plan liturgies which encourage full and prayerful participation by all the assembly at the Eucharistic celebration the central prayer of the church.  This committee also coordinates activities, which bear on the spiritual life of our community, such as retreats, missions, and communal penance services and music programs.

Ministers of the Word (Lectors)

Lectors proclaim the Word of God, helping the assembly to be open and to grow in response to the Scriptures.  Mature members of the parish who actively try to live and reflect the Christian life, who feel their talent lie here, and who complete the short training program, are welcome.

Ushers

Our ushers are concerned with the comfort and safety of all members of the assembly.  They assist in the offertory collection and stand ready to assist people in finding seats.
