A large number of our congregation is involved in over twenty ministries and organizations which we operate for the enrichment of all those with whom we come in contact and those beyond. We invite you to join us and participate in any way you feel you can. We have many people who want to meet you and will welcome you to their ministry or organization. Please take time to read through the explanation of our ministries. If your are interested and want more information, contact people are listed at the end our ministries list. Call our parish office (860-445-1446) and ask the secretary to pass your interest on to the contact person.
Eucharistic Ministry to the Homebound
Our parish feels a special bond with and responsibility for our parishioners who are homebound, permanently or temporarily. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are called on to carry out this ministry on a regular basis. Please call the rectory office (860-445-1446) if you are in need of the services provided by this ministry.
Food for the Needy
This is a ministry in which we hope and expect all members of the parish to participate. As a parish, we set aside the third week-end of each month as a special day to bring food or money for the food pantry. Some members are always needed to transport the food to the local food pantry.
Our Lady’s Guild
A wonderful organization, open all members in the parish, Our Lady’s Guild meets once a month for a short business meeting and for fellowship. It provides outreach services to both the parish and outside community, and many services for the parish through money raisers such as two annual bake sales and two annual closet sales.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Men and women combine their love of knitting and crocheting with prayer to create a gift of love for those in need of comfort. Each shawl has prayers for strength, comfort, and peace woven into it. When the shawl is completed the group comes together to offer a final prayer and blessing before sending the shawl along its way.
This group meets monthly. Call the church office (860-445-1446) for more information.
Pro-Life
The mission of the Pro-Life ministry is to promote the value and dignity of human life from fertilization to natural death, through prayers, education, and peaceful activism as outlined in the “Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities” of the U.S. Bishops Council.
Social Committee
A very active ministry, the Social committee supports occasions in the church when receptions or lunches are appropriate, as well as planning our annual church picnic. The committee recognizes their unique position in developing bonds of friendship within our community.
The Prayer Line
Volunteers receive the names of those who might have a particular need for prayers and the confidentially circulate the intentions via their phone network.
Transportation
A small number of our parishioners are unable to drive to weekend liturgies and need our help. Volunteers take on the role of driver for those who would otherwise be homebound.
Welcoming
This parish group places a high priority on embracing new parishioners, welcoming them and encouraging their involvement in the parish. As a number of new families come into our parish, we hold get-togethers at the Parish Center to assure that everyone has a chance to meet others and to get information about our activities and ministries.
